There are lots of things we can “make” in our lives.
We can make up, make sure, make out, make it, make over, make bail, make breakfast and make par.
We can make the team, make the cut, make the grade and make the weight.
We can make a cake, make a bed, make a date, make a friend, make a fortune, make a sale, make a start, make a purchase, make a mess, make a deal, make a bet, make a buck, make a mistake, make a difference, make a contribution, make a booking, make a point, make a wish, make a will, even make an effort.
What should Christians be making?
We can make all these things and more. But do you know what Jesus wants you to “make”? Disciples!
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”. (Matthew 28:18-20)
The “making” that should define every Christian's life is the making of disciples.
What does it mean to make disciples? It is the sharing of the gospel and the sharing of your gospel-transformed life with someone else, so that together, you can trust in Jesus, follow Jesus, learn from Jesus, lean on Jesus and live like Jesus.
