Why is Jesus pictured as white?

Why is Jesus pictured as white? If you study the bible enough one would come to the conclusion that he was black.

You’re right, there’s no reason to think that Jesus was white. The Bible doesn’t tell us anything about his physical appearance at all. We can guess based on what people from that area looked like at that time but we just don’t know what he really looked like. That might help to explain why many people who have represented Jesus visually have made him look like they do: white. Of course, they’ve done the same thing with lots of Bible figures like the disciples, Moses and David - even angels. But this is a just a tradition begun by artists.

The Bible doesn’t tell us what Jesus looked like because that’s not the important thing about who he was or what he did. The important things to know about him are that he is “the Christ, the Son of God” who “came into the world to save sinners” (John 20:31, 1 Timothy 1:15).
