Do we have to go to church to be a Christian?
Answer - No and Yes.
No - the one thing that makes you a Christian is God’s gift of his son Jesus for you. Trust in this one thing is what makes you a Christian [see Ephesians 2:8-9]. The Bible is clear that there is nothing that we can do that makes us okay with God and so NO we don’t have to go to church to be a Christian.
But as a Christian, you are saved by God to be part of his people. We weren’t saved to be by ourselves but to have lots and lots of brothers and sisters in Christ. So it is really good to meet together with our new family and praise God, learn about him from his word, pray together, and support each other [see Hebrews 10:25]. Being a Christian can be really hard and one thing that makes it so much better is that we have Christian brothers and sisters who can help us make it to the end. As a Christian I really want to go to church - because of what I get out of it and because of what I can give to other people
