Confession App

Have you heard about the new “Confession App”? It takes you through the Ten Commandments with a whole bunch of questions to help you examine your life for sin. The app’s designers see it as a way to spur people back into the habit of repenting.

So do we need to confess our sins?

http://www.biblegateway.com="">1 John 1:8-9 says: If we claim to be without sin” we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Yes we should confess our sins. And we do this in complete confidence that God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and change us wash us and purify us for all unrighteousness.

How is this possible? Well it’s all got to do with Jesus. 1 John 2:1-2 says;

“My dear children I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Forgiveness is made possible because Jesus the sinless perfect   Righteous One speaks to God the Father on our behalf. And not only that Jesus died for us taking away God’s righteous anger at our sin   so that we could have our relationship with God restored. That’s what “atoning sacrifice” means.

So confess your sins to God in complete confidence that God is faithful and just. Confess your sins to God in complete confidence that Jesus died for you and speaks for you. And while you are talking to God ”  thank Him big time for Jesus.
