What a friend we have in Jesus

Unlike other people, our Saviour will never let us down.

In Genesis 3:6, we see the first time people sinned against God: "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it."

The consequences were devastating. The man and woman were banished from the garden of Eden and the way humans and God relate has never been the same.

And the Bible makes it clear that you and I are no better than Adam and Eve. Romans 3:23 says that we have all sinned. We’ve all ignored and rejected God. Therefore, because of our sin, we can’t be friends with God.

But wait ... there's good news! Jesus. Through his death and resurrection, he restores our relationship with God. No wonder the old song said "what a friend we have in Jesus!".

Jesus, the ultimate friend
