Bigger than the world itself

3D Bible animation to connect with children, tweens and teens

As a theme, boys in years 6-8 aren’t big readers, they tend to be more active than reflective and they are easily distracted. We often get frustrated with them in kid’s club or youth group because they never seem to sit still long enough to hear anything. And it’s not easy talking about Jesus with someone hanging off the ceiling fan screaming “I’m a plane, I’m a plane!”

The answer isn’t simply to give up or create such low expectation that we never challenge them to grow, we do need to teach and discipline and expect big things from our boys. We also need to engage them in a way that connects for them; our programs and our message need to work together to help our boys engage with Jesus as saviour and king and help them understand what it means to submit and follow him in real life.

Every now and again it’s great to find a resource that is just crackingly good for boys, something that engages them in their world. Below is one I have found recently.

The video is about a kid whose small computer game world is rudely interrupted by a bible hitting him on the head. As he reads it through the eyes of his games it tells the story of how God has been working throughout history, even in the weird things, and in the end how it’s all pointing to Jesus. It looks unbelievable, it has a great message and I am bitter that it’s only 3 minutes. Free to download at www.max7.org.
