YEAR 12 RESULTS ARE IN!

Remember - be joyful, pray continually & give thanks in all circumstances

Exam Results. University marks. Course admission. Waiting to hear how you have gone can often be an anxious time filled with anticipation and expectation. Sometimes you go better than you thought you would and sometimes worse. But whatever the situation Paul gives us this attitude to follow:

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Easier said than done, but here is how it might apply.

Be joyful always

Obviously it is easy to be joyful when you score 100%. But Paul here is not just talking about a happy feeling. It is more an attitude of the heart. Being joyful even when you don’t get what you may have wanted. Finding contentment in God's love. Being joyful in God's ultimate plan for salvation through Jesus Christ.

Pray continually

We ought to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus at all times and praying is a great way to do that. In amongst the stress of getting our results, it can helpful to trust in God before, during and after. Praying continually helps us remember what is most important, our relationship with God

Give thanks in all circumstances

This can be the hardest of them all. Being thankful whatever happens. Note that it does not say you have to be happy in all circumstances, because sometimes life sucks and we are to mourn or be sad. But even in that suffering or disappointment we need to still give thanks for all the gifts God generously provides (having an education at all!). Most of all be thankful for salvation in Jesus!

So as you receive your exam marks back and apply for university courses or jobs remember to be joyful, prayerful and thankful because this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus.
