“I am a new creation”

How God took my sinful life and turned it around.

God’s Word says, ”So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus" —Romans 8:1 (ESV)

I understood the true meaning of this popular statement this year.

I had lived a life filled with sin. To be honest, the only sin I had not committed was murder. Everything else from awful sexual practises to ugly musical taste to petty lies, I had done them all, I was that bad!

I thought whoever would have told me I could be saved would have been a better liar than I was!

My journey back to God

I had a very religious background. My parents were God-fearing and they raised us as any Christian parent would.

But the truth was, I was never saved. I rather lived a secret life for the Devil. I was in the world and was controlled by it.

Fast-forward to January 2015 and I was in my college fellowship crying for God to come into my life. I hadn’t gone to the college to find God, I’d gone to find a flatmate! But God was leading me there for something else, something greater than I could ever imagine. That Sunday, I could felt the need to call on God, the need to experience Him. I had tasted the world and had gotten tired of it. I realised I needed to be saved, and so right there I received Christ.

Not long after that, I was reminded of a verse from the Bible: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" —2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

I am now a new creation, the old me had passed, behold the new me has come!

A new creation

I have experienced God's grace, the kind of grace that can pick a man up from the deepest sin and lead him to the altar of God. And the good news is, that same grace is still available to you too!

We are never too sinful to be saved, neither are we too dirty to be washed. God's grace is super abundant, without limit, always ready.

It might sound like I’m making a big deal out of this, but until you experience the kind of grace I did, you just wouldn't understand! Until then this is my prayer…

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and for evermore, Amen.
