A letter to my failing self

"Most importantly, I want you to know that you are valuable – So valuable that you are worth Christ’s life"

Dear Self,

I am so sorry for hurting you, for pressuring you.
Sorry for always comparing you with others.
Sorry for not appreciating all your efforts.
Sorry for condemning you for your weaknesses.
Sorry for judging you every time you fail.
Sorry for hating you for all your mistakes.
Sorry for making you feel you’re not good enough.

SORRY. SORRY. SORRY.

But I want you to know that you are not your grades,
Those were just numbers that happened to exist in your profile.

I want you to know that you’re worth more than your achievements,
Those were just rusting trophies and medals and fading certificates.

I want you to know that you’re accepted for who you are –
You are created uniquely – wonderfully and fearfully made (Psalm 139:14).

I want you to know that God loves you no matter how many times you’ve failed
He’ll always be a Father who understands (Matthew 11:28-30).

Most importantly, I want you to know that you are valuable –
So valuable that you are worth Christ’s life (Romans 5:8; John 10:10).

Just because you’ve failed once or twice or thrice or even a hundred times, doesn’t mean you’re a failure.
God is teaching you something during your failure that He cannot teach you in your success.
He is preparing you while you are in this painful place for somewhere He has planned for you.
He’ll certainly use your worst times for His glory! (Romans 8:28-30)

Note that it’s not your job to understand God’s plan,
It’s your responsibility to trust and obey Him.
This is not your battle, Jesus already conquered even death, remember?
Let go and let Him give you victory. (1 John 5:4-5)

So lift up your head and let that smile out.
God will give you beauty for ashes, only leave the ashes behind and let them go! (Rom 8:32)
Dear, be strong in the grace that is in Christ’s Jesus (2 Timothy 2:1).
His grace will always be sufficient for your weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9; Hebrews 4:16).
Hold on and fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).

Never let your mind be the devil’s garbage dump.
Never believe all his lies, discouragements, insults and condemnation.
Never have a passive mind, renew it always! (Rom 12:1-2)

Please stop living based on how you feel about yourself and
Start standing on the Truth of Christ revealed (1 Cor 2:16).
That Jesus is the strength of your heart,
He is your portion and shield, and He will never fail you (Psalm 73:26).

Also, I want you to know that I have forgiven you simply because I cannot condemn God’s beloved (Rom 8:1).
And remember no one can ever curse you because God has already blessed you (Numbers 23:8).
You can be greater than who you are right now,
God made you more than a conqueror (Rom 8:37).
Simply because the One who is in you is greater than he who is in this world (1 John 4:4).

Lastly, I want to tell you over and over again, in case you have already forgotten, that you are a child of God (John 1:12)
He had made you in His image – with intellect, will and emotion.
Demeaning yourself is like mocking God’s character inscribed in yours,
So please stop as soon as possible.

With that I’ll leave you a final note found in Ephesians 2:10, NLT:
For you are God’s masterpiece. He has created you anew in Christ Jesus, so you can do the good things He planned for you long ago.
