What is the Apocrypha?

What is the Apocrypha?

The Apocrypha is in fact a group of books of Jewish origin that appears in the Bibles of the Catholic and Orthodox churches. They date from the period in between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and narrate some of the events that occurred in that period. While recognising that these are worthwhile books, most Protestant churches don’t accept them as God’s Word. There is virtually nothing in them that would change Christian doctrine in any significant way.

If you can find some books of the Apocrypha, by all means give them a read, but they are not as important as the books of the Old Testament or the New Testament in telling us what God has done in Jesus Christ.
