Information

St Aidan’s Longueville is seeking a person to co-ordinate and further develop our growing children’s and youth ministry. We are looking for a creative person with a passion to see young people nurtured in Christ. Teaching and/or theological training would be an advantage.

The position is a full time position. However, we are happy to consider a part time or job shared arrangement.

Job Description

Time and days negotiable, but include Sundays

Note: The position may be shared between two people

Objectives of this Position

  1. To proclaim the gospel to the children, youth and young adults of Longueville and Lane Cove area.
  2. To build relationships with, and provide a Christian role model for the children, youth and young adults of the area.
  3. To disciple Christian young people and prepare them for service, ministry and leadership roles in the future.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Sunday Services
1.1 Involvement with the planning, organising and leadership of the Sunday Services.

2. Leadership and pastoral oversight of the children’s and youth ministries.
2.1 Guide and participate in the planning, organising and leading the children and young people in the various groups that meet, including mid week playgroups.
2.2 Coordination and facilitation of the Children’s Ministry programmes.
2.3 Involvement with other related youth and children’s activities such as camps, training programmes, conferences, and school holiday programmes.
2.4 Train and develop leaders of the youth and children’s ministries.
2.5 Establish groups as opportunities arise.
2.6 Build relationships with the members of the youth and children groups and their parents.
2.7 Ensure that Child Protection and Occupational Health and Safety Protocols are followed.

3. Schools Ministry
3.1 Teaching SRE at Local Public Schools. Currently on Wednesday mornings at Lane Cove Public.
3.2 Planning and involvement with special School assemblies.
3.3 Involvement in the life and activities of local schools as opportunities present.

4. Other
4.1 Support and involvement with various Parish initiatives, functions and projects.
4.2 Liaise with other groups that use the Parish facilities.
4.3 Networking with other churches and youth workers in the area.
4.4 Attendance at staff meetings.
4.5 Commitment to pursue further training and professional development.

Salary and Conditions

Salary and conditions by negotiation dependant on qualifications and experience

  • Four weeks annual leave.
  • Two weeks study leave (where appropriate)
  • Your own transport and a current driver’s licence will be necessary as there is no convenient public transport on Sundays.
