The essential guide to being a group leader on Fervr
How to keep your group group legal, happy, safe and clean.
Congratulations on becoming a Fervr group leader.
You’ve probably had a lot of experience in leading Friday night youth groups with games, bible study and some supper. So what’s different about leading an on-line group?
Well, apart from the fact that you probably aren’t drinking cordial and eating donuts while you’re at your computer, not much really. Just like at youth group, as a leader, you’re responsible to keep the group legal, happy, safe and clean. Your good example teaches the kids in your group to do the same.
Keeping it legal means making sure that artists, workers and writers get what is due to them. Stealing or sharing music, games and videos is not ok.
1 Timothy 5:18 "Those who work deserve their pay!"
Keeping it happy means using words that help others, not hurt. Dissing, cussing and questionable jokes don’t belong on the site. People should come away feeling positive and uplifted, not humiliated or abused.
Ephesians 4:29 Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Keeping it safe means that no-one (kid or leader) gets put in a vulnerable position where they could get hurt. And keeping it clean means that the board of Classification and Review would give your site a good ol’ G rating. No explicit images and no sexual innuendoes please.
1 Timothy 5:2 Treat the older women as you would your mother, and treat the younger women with all purity as your own sisters.
You’re the one with your finger on the delete button. If you feel it’s needed, use it, and remind your group to raise their standards.
Just like youth group, but without the cordial and the ball games.
